Corporate Social Responsibility
Acting with integrity and ethically is part of they way we work at Merlin. For us Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is about understanding and addressing the needs of our staff, clients, suppliers, local communities, etc and making a positive contribution. We are and want to continue to be a successful company and an employer of choice and we believe that taking responsibility and commercial successes can and do work together.
We have three key areas of focus:
- To be the leading provider of claims management and loss adjusting services with focus on choice, quality, and service
- To make a difference to our clients, their customers, our staff and the environment
- To be the employer of choice
To achieve the above we know you have to stand out from the competition, you actually have to be different; you have to care, be fair, and implement. We cannot just be perceived to be different, there has to be tangible and sustainable differences that benefit our clients, their customers, our staff, and the environment surrounding us and in which we operate.
All our initiatives are in place to give our staff a better quality of life and a superior working environment, and in turn to deliver better service to our clients and improve our contribution to the environment.

Some recent initiatives include:
Carbon Footprint
We have actively changed our staff-working environment. All field based staff are now able to work from home, all having blackberry’s, laptops and full broadband access together with satellite navigation that has reduced travel times, miles travelled vehicle usage and fuel consumption. In addition, all new company vehicles must be less than 160g CO2 omissions.
Office Environment
We have made considerable investment into open plan offices and ergonomically designed workspace. We have had light bulbs changed in all offices to low energy and are working with our clients and IT to go further towards a paperless office environment. We have in place procedures for recycling of paper and consumables such as toners and mobile telephones.
All our corporate brochures are printed on 100% recycled paper from a mill that has been awarded the ISO140001 certificate for environmental management.
Charitable Donations and Ethical Purchasing
We have a strong ethos of charitable donations and ethical purchasing. We purchase fair trade tea and coffee and have recently recycled all of our office furniture from head office refurbishment to provide facilities for numerous associations home and abroad for use in schools.
We support a number of charities, from choosing a national charity each year, to a monthly staff choice charity of choice.
