AMG Respond to Severe Weather in Scotland over New Year
02/01/2008
AMG are today responding to numerous major losses following the adverse weather affecting Scotland in the run up to New Year. One of the many claims being considered is for severe damage sustained to a property in Dunoon, Argyle, following a landslide which saw thousands of tons of soil, rubble and trees collapse onto a house.
The landslide was triggered by floodwater and a burst water main following what locals describe as the worst weather for 40 years.
Commented Kevin Scott, Regional Manager of AMG Scotland Office "Immediately following receipt of Insurers instructions we contacted the Policyholder and arranged for a member of our Specialist Adjusting Unit to travel by ferry to inspect the damage and assess the situation. Due to the nature and extent of the damage AMG immediately procured Alternative Accommodation for the Policyholder and family and entered into complex discussions with the Local Authority regarding the removal of debris. We are also liaising with engineers who been appointed regarding the structural integrity of the property"
Commented Graham Hay from AMG's Specialist Adjusting Unit. "Arrangements have been made for the removal of debris from site and these works are well in hand. Following the removal of the debris we will be able to establish if the property has suffered any movement. This is a complex claim with many factors which need to be carefully considered and we continue to liaise with Local Authority, Insurers and the Policyholder"
