As the worst summer weather in living memory continued to cause devastation across the UK, AMG Adjusting teams in the Midlands, SE and SW were again mobilised following ferocious rain storms on Thursday and Friday last week, where the equivalent of 2 months of rainfall fell within a matter of hours.
AMG's Head Office based Central Instruction Facility was open for business throughout the weekend and received and actioned very high numbers of new Flood claims. The majority of Policyholders had been contacted and visits arranged by close of business Sunday, where access was possible.
Commented Garry Lloyd, Director of Customer Services at AMG "The weather this summer has caused flooding of a magnitude not previously seen in our lifetime. These latest floods will place further strain on a hard pressed Insurance Industry infrastructure. Due to the unprecedented challenges there are concerns about the ongoing availability of Builders, building materials and drying equipment, given the sheer scale of this catastrophe. We believe that AMG are well positioned to respond to the demands placed upon them however we are seeking to manage the expectations of the Policyholders with regard to the timescales and frustrations that inevitably lie ahead.
The response of our Adjusting teams has, yet again, been magnificent. They have risen enthusiastically and professionally to the challenge and we are in their debt. We are keeping our Insurer clients updated as developments occur and have already redeployed personnel and Contractors from less effected areas to assist".
It is now recognised, by all, that it is vital to carefully manage Customer Expectations and to encourage patience given the huge scale of this catastrophe. We have updated our Flood Customer Information Sheet which we will be distributing to Customers as we visit them.

Ian Maudsley has been appointed IT and Projects Director He is one of the first senior appointments to be made since the company merged the three individual brands - AMG, Carr Greenwoods Smith (CGS) and Sigma Claims Solutions - to become Merlin Professional Claims Services on June 6th 2008.

Chris Wilshere has been appointed to head up the specialist liability loss adjusting business, Merlin Liability, formerly Sigma Claims Solutions, with immediate effect. Chris, who was previously UK Liability Manager at Crawford & Co, has been with the company since January 2004. He succeeds fellow directors Simon Burley and Owen Gorman who leave next year to pursue other interests.
