Strongest Earthquake for over 20 Years Rocks UK
27/02/2008
AMG adjusting and surveying teams are on standby this morning after the strongest earthquake since 1984 shook the country during the early hours of the morning.
The epicentre of the quake, which struck at 0056 GMT and measured 5.3 on the Richter Scale, was Market Rasen in Lincolnshire, although tremors were felt as far afield as Newcastle and Southampton.
Commented Garry Lloyd, Director of Customer Services at AMG, "At this stage it is not possible to comment on the scale of damage which has been caused by this earthquake, however we have teams of adjusting and surveying staff on standby to lend assistance, should they be required. This was a stronger tremor than we experienced in the West Midlands and Folkestone areas a couple of years ago and we are therefore ready to respond should our services be needed. We have been in touch with our Insurer Clients and will continue to share information as a clearer picture emerges and intelligence from our adjusters in the field starts to filter through.
Contractors from our managed networks have been briefed and are ready to attend damaged properties to make safe and get repairs under way at short notice."
