Merlin Restructures Chartered Loss Adjusting Division
16/07/2010
Merlin Professional Claims has re-invigorated its Loss Adjusting division following an organisational restructure of its services and the appointment of Russell Crewe as Director of Loss Adjusting Services. The recent financial restructure, which has given Merlin a very strong financial platform has enabled some very senior key appointments to be made and given Russell Crewe the foundation he needs to take Merlin to the forefront of loss adjusting services in the UK claims arena.
The division will deliver Loss Adjusting services for all property claims, and incorporates the recently enhanced Major & Complex Loss unit, project management of Subsidence and ‘niche’ claims. Merlin continues to handle all types of insurance claim including high-net worth and Commercial claims.
Loss Adjusting has always been at the heart of Merlin, and integral to its Total Claims Management Services (TCMS) model, but Russell says that for several reasons, this message appears to have been misinterpreted, diluted or misunderstood: “By focusing upon re-structuring and adding new recruits of a very high calibre to our existing teams, we are in effect re-launching our Loss Adjusting division,” he says.
“More than this,” he continues, “we are making a clear statement that we are totally committed to Loss Adjusting, and have a first class division with the operational and technical expertise to deliver a truly enhanced service. Merlin has always been renowned for service delivery and the new structure is simply re-invigorating and enhancing the process by delivering traditional loss adjusting with a modern feel and depth of technical expertise.”
As Director of Loss Adjusting, Russell will be in charge of all operational matters whilst Kevin Wood (Chief Technical Officer) heads up the recently enhanced Technical team assisted by Mike Bond and Bob Mockridge, all of whom are well known senior figures in the industry.
“We now have 78 adjusters within the business,” Russell says, “with the majority being either ACII/FCII or ACILA/FCILA qualified. There is always value in improving upon the technical competencies and skill-sets of all of our people, empowering them to make decisions whilst focusing on customer service and commercial awareness.” Merlin has a strategy of continuous improvement and this is crucial in the development of the loss adjusting team, Russell explains: “It is our intention to develop further our ‘grow your own’ policy and with our CII accredited training facility, combined with the recognition of achieving Investors in People and Putting the Customer First status, and the development of our own Merlin training Academy, we are in a great position to do exactly that.” As well as developing from within, Merlin has also actively recruited outside expertise with the team recently being further strengthened by the appointments of Richard Atkin (formerly of Davies) and Martin Madden (formerly of GAB Robins), both of whom are very well known in the industry as leading senior adjusters.
Clients continue to engage Merlin and its very successful Total Claims Management service in various permutations, Russell concludes: “Those clients that only want our Loss Adjusting expertise can have exactly that, safe in the knowledge that our depth of expertise and commitment to service delivery remains at the fore. By effectively ‘unbundling’ Loss Adjusting, we are giving the division greater visibility and clarity.
“The professionalism, integrity, and commitment to our Loss Adjusting service should not be in any doubt and we will continue to innovate and invest in this area.”
