Claims Management
Merlin's Claims Management Unit (CMU) provide services to Insurers, Reinsurers, Lloyd's Underwriters, Brokers and Others. Both in the short term to assist in times of claim surge, staff holidays and sickness as well as on a fully out sourced basis.
Operating from our UK Head Office Site, personnel have been recruited from Insurance Company and Broker backgrounds. All have a clear understanding of claims related issues and the experience of outsourcing, whilst simultaneously recognising the need for Customer care and a focus on spend and efficiency to maintain the positive image of all parties.
Our approach to multiple supplier management is unique; enhanced service to Customers whilst controlling indemnity cost.
Each Claims Handler is subject to the same stringent performance criteria as those imposed upon their Loss Adjusting colleagues. All staff are thoroughly trained, and kept abreast of relevant case law and insurance developments through our Training, Quality & Compliance Unit.
We're adaptable in our systems and offer a dedicated service including:

- Paperless claims handling via state of the art IT
- Provision for Branding/Customised Stationery, ad hoc Reports & MI
- A Full 24 Hours Helpline Facility

With access to our Validation and Pricing data, Historical and current Meteorological data as well as our Special Investigation Unit, National Recovery Unit and managed Contractor networks and procured preferred external suppliers of goods and services. You may select from our range of services which include Incident Reporting and Helplines, Claims Handling and Reporting, the Bulk Handling of Payments/Managed Funding, and the provision of ad hoc Reports in any desired sequence and format.
Above all, the service is tailor-made to suit individual requirements, available on a 24-7 basis, 365/366 days a year.

Chris Wilshere has been appointed to head up the specialist liability loss adjusting business, Merlin Liability, formerly Sigma Claims Solutions, with immediate effect. Chris, who was previously UK Liability Manager at Crawford & Co, has been with the company since January 2004. He succeeds fellow directors Simon Burley and Owen Gorman who leave next year to pursue other interests.
